Monday Memo 9.30.19

We hope that you have had a restful weekend.  Although there are not too many major events this week, there are a few important things to take note of.  First, our school's Climate Survey opens on Monday.  Our goal is to have at least 90% of our staff complete this important one question survey.  Please take a minute to visit the CCPS website on Monday and login with your staff ID to rate how likely you are to recommend DCE as a great place to work.  Your feedback matters to us!  Our students in grades 3-5 will need to complete this survey in their homeroom classes.  We ask that teachers track which students have completed it as we also need to hit our 90% goal in this area as well.  Our students will be asked 10 questions and will have an opportunity to write comments.

This week we will also be meeting for the first time in our committee groups.  We have gathered your input through our survey for suggested collaboration topics for each committee.  The lists for each group show many great topics that will allow all of us to come together to discuss small tweaks that will make big impacts on teaching and learning.  We couldn't be more excited to get these committees started.  Keli will be sending out directions for where in the media center building each committee will be meeting on Thursday at 7:20 am.  Be on the lookout!

We would like to give a big shout out to Kathleen Skavronek and all of her volunteers that made our "Dad's, Take Your Child to School Day" event a huge success last week.  Take a peek at a few of the fun pictures from the morning!  Wednesday mornings will often be busy with our Family Center events.  Please keep this in mind as it will impact parking.  We have discussed some out of the box options for days that we expect extremely large crowds and will send out directions for staff parking before these events.  We apologize for the parking craziness... but are super proud to say that it is the result of having such a high percentage of parent involvement at DCE!

We hope that you have a wonderful week!  We are looking forward to dedicating some time to observe in your classrooms.  It is our favorite place to be!

-Keli and James
