Good Evening Deep Creek Families. This is Principal McElroy calling with a few important reminders for this busy week. Tuesday our Candy Cane Lane student shopping store opens. Students may visit the store to purchase gifts for family members during their computer specials time. PTO volunteers will help students shop for whomever is on their list. Please contact your child's teacher for specific times. Thursday evening at 5:30pm is our Candy Cane Lane Family Night. There will be a special visitor that evening and the weather forecast shows a chance of snow that evening. In addition to the One Stop Shopping experience, bring your own blanket for dinner and a movie under the stars. We are looking forward to this exciting festive evening. Good afternoon to all of our Cub Families.  This is Assistant Principal, James Vernon, with our Cub announcements for the next two weeks. Let's start with a reminder that there will be no school for students, due to the election, on Tuesday, November 8th. Then on Wednesday, November 9th don't forget that we will have our Family Reading Center open in the morning.  Also, to help out our families that can not make our morning Family Reading Center times we will have evening hours on Wednesday as well.  The Family Reading Center will be open from 5pm - 6pm, so two great opportunities to come in and get your Cubs a book on Wednesday the 9th.  Our Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough is scheduled to arrive at Deep Creek on Wednesday, November 16th, so please plan on picking up cookie dough if your student participated.  Thank you again for your support.  Lastly, on Friday, November 18th we will again be supporting Relay for Life with a Crazy Sock day, please encourage your Cub to participate and bring a dollar with them that day and wear their Crazy Socks!  Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, I will see our Ready, Responsible, and Respectful Cubs in the morning.

Good afternoon, this is Assistant Principal, Mr. Vernon, with our Sunday afternoon announcements.  This week marks our annual Red Ribbon week, which is used to help our students understand healthy lifestyles and to hold a food drive to help needy families in Charlotte County.  Red Ribbon week will also include a Deep Creek spirit day on Thursday and our traditional character parade on Friday.  Please remember that students will need to follow the uniform policy after changing from their character costumes on Friday. Last, I want to keep encouraging our students to make sure they are at school all day, every day.  Nothing less than our success is our goal and student success is the most important part of our school.  We do not want students to miss important classroom instruction, so remind your students all day, every day.  Thank you for your time, I will see our Ready, Responsible, and Respectful student tomorrow morning.  Have a great evening.

Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families this is Principal McElroy hoping you are enjoying your weekend. On Thursday student report cards will be sent home with students. If you haven't conference with your child's teacher yet this year, I encourage you to check the conference requested box on the outside envelope. It is important that we are a partners in your child's education. This Friday from 4 - 8pm  is our first spirit night with our new business partner, Circle K on Edgewater Blvd. There will be a drawing for a Circle K gift card and basket for all our families who stop in. Please visit the pump with Deep Creek Elementary on it and 1 cent per gallon is donated to our school every time you visit. Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families. This Principal McElroy with a few announcements for the next two weeks. An automated call will come home early this week from the district asking you to participate in a one question survey about our school. If we are meeting your expectations, we appreciate your score of 9 signifying you would recommend us to others. Our monthly SAC and PTO meeting is Tuesday, Oct. 4th at 5:30 in our media center. All are welcome to attend. The PTO fundraiser is due Thursday, October 6th. The end of the first quarter has arrived so Friday, October 14th is a teacher work day and no school for students. Good afternoon to all our Cub Families.  This is Assistant Principal, Mr. Vernon, calling to let you know what is going on at Deep Creek this week.  The first message is for Dads, this Wednesday, September 28th is recognized as Dads Take Your Child to School Day.  So Dads, Granddads, Uncles, and any male role model bring your Cub to school on Wednesday and attend our Family Reading Center in the library.  There will be a chance for Dads to win a raffle and get a picture with your children with our beloved Deep Creek mascot, Ruggles.  The Family Reading Center is open from 7:35 - 8:30am. Also continuing this week is our Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Dough Fundraiser.  The forms came home last week and we thank all families for their support with the fundraiser.  The fundraiser will end on Wednesday, October 5th when all completed order forms will be brought back to the school.  I thank you all for listening and wish you all a good night.  I will see our Ready. Good afternoon Cub Families.  This is assistant principal, James Vernon.  I wanted to notify all parents that we had a Practice Safety Drill today.  We hold two Safety Drills per year, the second one will be in January.  The Safety Drill helps our students and staff practice lock down procedures that would be necessary to keep our students safe.  I am happy to report that the drill went very well and our students were mature during this period.  I hope you all are looking forward to a great weekend.  I'll see you and our Ready, Responsible, and Respectful Cubs Monday morning.  Have a great night.

Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families this is Principal McElroy. I want to thank everyone for such a wonderful first month of school. Tuesday night is our first PTO spirit night at Smokin Pit BBQ on Kings Hwy. A flyer is available for print on our website and one will come home with your child. This is an excellent community outreach program and a way to earn some money for our school. I hope you all have had a chance to check out our website and specifically the website for your child's teacher. You will find a wealth of information including their email address. Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families this is Principal McElroy with a few important reminders for the next two weeks. Tuesday, Aug. 30th and next Monday Sept. 5th there is no school for students. These dates are in the calendar section of your child's planner as well. Thursday, Sept. 1st is picture day. It is a uniform day as all students will be photographed for the yearbook. Please follow all uniform guidelines. I would like to invite all our families to our first SAC/PTO meeting of the year on Tuesday, Sept. 6th at 5:30pm in our media center. Good afternoon to all of our Cub Families, this is Assistant Principal, Mr. Vernon letting everyone know what is coming up for the week. On Tuesday, August 23rd we are having our annual Watch D.O.G Pizza night. We invite all of our students to bring their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, or any other male role model to our cafeteria from 5:30 - 6:30pm.  We will have pizza and a brief presentation on how you can become a Watch D.O.G and be a role model on our campus.  Also on Tuesday, all families will be receiving a bright yellow paper that will be sent home with students.  This paper will have your child's FOCUS information where you will gain access to check classroom grades, attendance, and Standardized test scores.   Last, I"m very excited to announce that our Family Reading Center will open before school this Wednesday, August 24th.  We invite all our families to stop in and check out a book, the Reading Center will be open from 7:35am - 8:00am.  Thank you all for listening, I am looking forward to another great week with our Cubs, who definitely have started off the school year Ready, Responsible, and Respectful.  Have a good night.

We hope all our Cubs have a restful weekend and are ready to learn on Monday. I just want to let you that there is a family handbook and calendar in the front of your child's planner. It is full of lots of great information about our procedures. Our Cubs looked awesome this week in their uniforms. As a reminder, our solid color collared shirt colors must be blue, yellow, white, black, or pink. Uniform bottoms must be neat fitting khaki or navy. Fridays are school spirit days so students may wear a Deep Creek tshirt with the approved uniform bottoms.  If you have any questions or concerns, please check with your child's teacher or call the office. Please make sure your child returns all their checked out books from the media center and family center. Wednesday evening at 6pm is our Drama production of Aristocats! Our students saw a preview of the performance this week and it is not to be missed. The next 9 days of school will be a whirlwind of activity. Please make sure you review our calendar in your student's planner or on our website. The last day for students is Thursday, May 26th. We have concluded our voting for school uniforms for the 2016-2017 school year and it passes but it is pending school board approval at this time. More information to come about uniforms. Good afternoon to all of our Deep Creek Families.  This is Assistant Principal, James Vernon, hoping you are having a great weekend.  This week our drama club is proudly putting on their first sneak peek performance of their production, The Aristocrats, this Friday for our students.  The public performance is Wednesday, May 18th at 6pm.  I have seen some of the practices and the play looks fantastic so far, I can't wait to see the whole show.   Also this week marks our last PTO/SAC Meeting of the year, come join us this Tuesday at 5:30pm.  Please remind your children to check our lost and found before the school year ends.  We are really looking forward to these last few weeks of school with our Cubs, please also remind them to stay Ready, Responsible, and Respectful as we finish the year.  Enjoy the rest of your weekend and to all the mother's, I hope you have enjoyed your special day. Good afternoon to all our Cub Families.  This is Assistant Principal, Mr. Vernon, with announcements for the upcoming week.  We want to remind all families that this week starts Kindergarten Round Up.  If you have a child starting Kindergarten, or have family or friends with an upcoming Kindergartener, this week starts the registration process at our school.  This week also gives us an opportunity for appreciation.  We are having a Volunteer Breakfast tomorrow morning at 9am to thank our volunteers.  Our volunteers are a huge asset to our school and we want to make sure they know they are appreciated. If you volunteer at Deep Creek please join us tomorrow morning for breakfast.  This week also marks our Staff Appreciation Week and gives us an opportunity to thank our wonderful staff for all they do for our students.  We have several activities planned for our entire staff each day this week, it is going to be a great week.  I can't wait to see our Ready, Responsible, and Respectful Cubs tomorrow morning.  Have a good night.

Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families,
This is Principal McElroy calling about the exciting events this week. We will begin voting for school uniforms for next year. Several students created a fashion show video that is available to view on social media and there will be a brief in person fashion show Friday during the leadership expo in the café. Please note there was an unofficial calendar sent home that erroneously reported Friday as a non-school day. Friday, March 11th is an instructional day for all students and staff. Hopefully you have returned your RSVP for the Teddy Bear Picnic which is Friday, March 11th. Parents and guests may begin arriving at 10:45am. You may enter classrooms at 11:15am and then the picnic will begin at noon. The tradition of our teddy bear picnic is an annual event you will not want to miss. We hope everyone sharpens their saw over spring break. Students will return to school on Tuesday, March 22nd. See you all Friday! Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families. This is Principal McElroy with a few announcements. Tuesday is an important day for our 4th and 5th graders as they are taking the writing Florida Standards Assessment. Please encourage all our Cubs to do Nothing Less Than Their BEST! Testing will begin first thing so be sure everyone is on time and has eaten a healthy filling breakfast. Tuesday evening we have our SAC and PTO meeting at 5:30 in the media center. Drug Free Charlotte will have an important presentation for our parents. In addition, we are making plans for our annual Teddy Bear Picnic which is Friday, March 11th. We hope to see you all there! Our lost and found is overflowing so if your child is missing anything, please encourage him/her to check the lost and found. We will be donating what is remaining over spring break. Good afternoon this is Assistant Principal, Mr. Vernon, with a couple announcements for this week. Both announcements are exciting news, first don't forget about our Family Reading Center being open every Wednesday at 7:30am for our students and parents.  This Wednesday is extra exciting because we have a special guest from the Stone Crabs baseball team. Stoney, the Stone Crab mascot, will be at Deep Creek helping our students find books and posing for pictures. Also this week, we will be holding our Glow Run on Friday from 5:30 - 7:30pm.  We have many students signed up with their Glow Packages ready for the run.  Everyone is welcome to come check out this event as we will have a DJ and food on the grill.  We are looking forward to having a good time with our Cubs.  Don't forget no school next Monday and Tuesday, February 15th & 16th.  Enjoy the rest of your Superbowl Sunday.
