Phone Message 11/4/18

Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families! This is Principal McElroy with reminders for the week. Daylight savings time ended so please make sure your clocks and alarms are set and ready for school tomorrow. We want all our Cubs in class ready to learn by 8:30am. Tuesday, November 06 is election day and there is no school for students. When, among other important decisions you will make about our County, State, and Nation, you will consider a referendum that would provide a much-needed operational millage for our schools.  Because you have a personal and unique view of our school through your child’s experience, you possess daily parental information about our programs and needs.  If passed, millage-dollars will be dedicated to providing a more stable and improved program of instruction for OUR children.  An increase in instructional time, improvement in lagging teacher and staff wages, more effective and dynamic programming in career tech and in reading, removal of pay-for-play fees in activities and athletics, and bolstered school security are among the expected changes that will occur for OUR children at Deep Creek Elementary. Please consider the last item on the ballot carefully:  the quality of Deep Creek Elementary, of our school district, and of our academic and co-curricular opportunities for children depends on our votes.  All of us who live in Charlotte County share in the responsibility of providing generational school support to our children as we prepare them for their futures and our own.  Thank you for listening to this message.  Thank you for voting on November 06!  School resumes on Wednesday. At Deep Creek our Cubs are Ready, Responsible, and Respectful leaders.

Phone Message 8/15/8

Good afternoon Cub Families. This is Assistant Principal, James Vernon.  I am calling to let all of our families know that we conducted a practice Code Red Drill at our school this morning at 9:10am.  A Code Red is when we immediately place the whole school in a complete lock down and all classroom doors are locked.  In order to be prepared for any emergency that could possibly arise, we will be conducting these Code Red Drills monthly.  A call won't be issued for every drill that we conduct each month, but we wanted to contact you on the first drill in case questions did arise when your children returned home this afternoon.   Remember during the remainder of the school year we won't issue these calls for every drill, but you can use planners or an email to your child's teacher for questions. Your child's safety is always important to us and we want to make sure we are prepared for an actual emergency.  Just to clarify one more time, today's Code Red Lock Down was a drill and all of our students are safe and happy in their classrooms.  We hope that you have a great day.  At Deep Creek our Cubs are Ready, Responsible, and Respectful.

DCES Phone Call 08/12/18

Good Afternoon Deep Creek Families! This is Principal McElroy reminding all our parents that any time you come on campus you MUST have your photo ID. Any student who is picked up through the parent pick up will need to have a car tag. If you do not have a car tag, you must park and walk in with your photo ID. There are no exceptions to this rule. During rainy day dismissal, all walkers are released through parent pick up so you must either have a car tag or go into the office with your photo ID. It is the rainy season so please be prepared. Our parent pick up line is very long so I encourage you to use our bus system if you are eligible for a bus. These procedures are written in your child's planner in the family handbook section. Also, you may contact the office for information. It was a great first day for our 1st -5th graders and we look forward to seeing our kindergarten students on Monday.  Friday is our Summer Slide celebration so please make sure your child turned it in to their classroom teacher. Phone Call 031218

Good Evening Deep Creek Families this is Principal McElroy with some important announcements.  Safety is a priority for us and I want to make you aware of an upcoming event. Schools across the nation are planning activities at their campus on Wednesday, March 14th to honor the memories of the students and staff at Stoneman Douglas High School. March 14th will mark exactly one month from when the tragic events took place. The Deep Creek School Family is planning to remember this event with a moment of silence at 10am on Wednesday, March 14th. This activity was planned with the input from our staff and families. It is very important to note that our number one goal is to remember and honor the memories of those individuals that lost their lives while doing so in a way that keeps your child safe and secure. As a school principal, I am expecting all students who wish to participate in this activity to be able to do so in a manner that keeps them safe. Students will not be allowed to leave the school building for any reason, such as in a walk-out, that puts them in a potentially unsafe situation. As always, we appreciate your support. On another note, please remember that snacks sent to school should be healthy and water bottles should only contain WATER. All other liquids can cause stains and attract ants. Our Jump Rope for Heart Event kicks off this week so please look for the information packet that is coming home with your child. Tuesday evening from 5-8pm we are hosting a spirit night at the McDonald's on Peachland and we hope to see you there. It is so nice for our Cubs to see their friends outside of school at our spirit nights and help our local businesses. Thank you again for your support. At Deep Creek, our Cubs are Ready, Responsible, and Respectful leaders.

Phone Message 1/7/18

Good afternoon and Happy New Year to all of our Cubs and their families.  This is Assistant Principal, Mr.Vernon with announcements for the upcoming week.  On Tuesday, your student will be bringing home pledge forms for this year's Deep Creek Glow Run.  Our Glow Run is scheduled for Thursday, February 1st and in year's past has been a big hit with our Cubs and families. We encourage each Cub to participate and earn at least $20 in pledges to obtain the Glow Run T-shirt and Glow Necklace.  Also coming home Tuesday, will be sponsor forms for the Glow Run.  If you or your business would like to be a sponsor of this year's Glow Run, send the sponsor form back and your business will be included on the Glow Run Sponsor list on the back of the T-Shirt.  Last, with the cold weather that has been present, please make sure your child's name is on the tag of their jacket.  If a jacket has been misplaced, please encourage your child to check lost and found in the cafeteria.  One final reminder, there will be no school next Monday, January 15th in honor of MLK Day.  I am looking forward to seeing our Ready, Responsible, and Respectful Cubs tomorrow morning.  Have a great evening.
